In 1928, while working on germs he uncovered a culture plate to examine, a mould spore fell on it and instantly the microbes around it disappeared. Fleming got interested and produced a pure culture of that mould and found out that some bacteria were inhibited by its anti bacterial action. He named it penicillin.
