6 MONTHS PLAN YOU NEED TO COMPLETE CSS PREPARATION (PART 1 OF 4)

-------This blogpost consists of 4 parts because it is very detailed. This is the first part-----

Is it even possible to prepare in six months? Yes, it is. And I am not kidding.

I learnt that one can prepare for CSS in a short time if the foundations are worked out already. I will cover that foundation in a later section in this post.

So, before sharing my 6 months CSS preparation plan, I will answer some of the frequently asked questions.

--------------------------------------------------------

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱?

Ideally, anywhere between six to ten months is enough for excellent preparation. Some people might also take more time than that, depending on how quickly they acquire new knowledge. Some might take a shorter time.

But for a balanced preparation, 6 months are adequate.

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝟯-𝟰 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀.

I have lately seen several people claiming that they prepared for CSS in 3 to 4 months. I don’t say that they are wrong. One of my very close friends studied for 4 months and stood 6th in the country.

But I would urge you to not be swept away in awe and inspiration. Such people are either highly exceptional or have an impressive academic background. Some also come from excellent colleges and universities.

But I know that most people like me do not have such enviable academic accolades, nor do we belong to such educational institutions. And most of the aspirants are also mediocre, the Ordinary Joes.

Therefore, vying for jaw-dropping three to four months is not practicable for everyone.

𝗜 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝟮.𝟱 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝘆?

Well, the reason is pretty simple. I was still underage when I started preparing for it. I was way too ahead of my cohort. I started preparation at around 19 years of age. I was in the second year of MBBS.

So, I could not appear before two and a half years, even if I wanted to, since I was not eligible.

Secondly, even if I had become eligible, I would have taken a little longer than 6 months for two reasons.

i. I am a slow learner, and my IQ is also average. I have had a hard time memorising things.

ii. I was sitting between the two stools already. MBBS and CSS were going hand in hand. That is why it would have taken longer.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝘅 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀?

When I said you can prepare in six months, I meant it. All you should do is make a time table in which you give at least 5 hours to your study.

Divide your schedule into two sessions. The morning session is for practices and skill development, and the evening session is for subjects.

Remember that since each subject has 8 to 10 core areas or chapters, it should not take you more than 15 days to cover a subject. But I will allow you to give yourself 30 days because I urge you to make the notes along with reading.

Since notes making is time-consuming, you should give at least one month to your preparation.

Those people who are still studying or working or mothers who cannot find the time should read my blog on “How to prepare for CSS while doing 9 to 5 job”. Here is the link:

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻

You see, the problem is that many aspirants begin the preparation without keeping in mind that you should not try to swim in the river without learning how to swim in a pool or a pond.

The only thing to cover is Grammar. And not the whole grammar thing, but just a few tenses, modal verbs, active & passive voice.

I have written a blog on “5 most common mistakes every CSS aspirant commits”. Here is the link to that. Do read the section on Grammar.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻?

Keep patience, the next post will cover first two months of the plan.
