Q 1. At what point of journey in his dream did the author hear the throbbing sound of wings?

Ans. It was the point of his journey when he could see nothing beneath but a faint luminosity buried beneath darkness. He heard the slow, throbbing sound of wings behind him.

Ans. It was about a fortnight after Christmas.

Q 3. What does the author like about Christmas?
Ans. The author likes the spirit of generosity about Christmas. Everyone quite suddenly becomes pious. Christmas makes everybody good.

Ans. The writer admits that he gave five shillings subscription to the Daily Telegraph’ Sixpenny Fund for the Unemployed. Then he remembers that it was ten shillings altogether. They spelt his name wrong the first time. Then he had been to four charity dinners. He sent a dozen photograph of himself signed, to a charity bazaar. He performed in a theater to raise fund for Poor Curates. He also reminded the Angel of the four balcony seats he had taken for the monster show at His Majesty’s in aid of the Fund for the Destitute British in Johannesburg. He remembered the rummage sale to which he sent all his old clothes, including a coat that had got mixed up with them by accident and could have been worn again. He also reminded him the raffle he had joined for a motor car.

Ans. Noble deeds are always a great joy for the author because he is a thinking human being. He can differentiate between right and wrong. He wants to do something for the needy. He feels satisfaction after a little deed of kindness. He does have human flaws but still he has a good sense of morality.

Ans. He dreamt that he flew out of the window in his nightshirt and went up and up. He met the Recording Angel and talked to him about his worldly deeds.

Ans. The writer thought to himself, if anything he had been a bit too good. A little less virtue and he might have lived longer.
