Ans. Chips served Ralston willingly enough and quite loyally. Or rather, he served Brookfield, but even then Ralston blamed him of insubordination and of ignoring his instructions.

Ans. It is a semi-biographical novel written in the 20th century. The main character, Chips, takes the readers down his memory lane and unfolds important events of his life. It is written in a flash back technique and does not have any chronological order which makes it both confusing and intriguing.
