Q.1) Why did the young Seagull have to join the company of his family?
Answer:
The young seagull was all alone on the ledge as his parents and siblings flew away. He was quite hungry and was afraid to make a flight. But he had to join the company of his family to feed him something and also to learn the art of flying.

Q.2) Why don’t his parents, his brothers and sisters give him food?
Answer:
His parents, brothers, and sisters don’t give him food because they want the young seagull to muster up courage to make a flight and search his food for himself. The seagull must learn this art of flight as it is necessary for his survival in future. If he does not learn the art of flight then he remains a coward throughout his life, thus depending upon others for food and other necessities.

Q.3) What was the attitude of the family towards the young Seagull? Was it agreeable to you or not? Explain.
Answer:
All the family members showed indifferent attitude towards the young seagull. The reason was quite obvious as they wanted him to be brave so they left him in isolation and started taunting him for his cowardice. Yes, such an attitude was agreeable to me as sometimes a person learn better if he had to take decision on his own or had to perform a difficult task without anyone’s support for his survival.

Q.4) Describe in your own words the feelings, actions and thoughts of the young Seagull soon after his fall?
Answer:
At first, the young seagull feels quite dizzy and is about to lose his balance as he thinks his wings are not supporting him. An Unpleasant Incident of My Life
One of the unpleasant incidents of my life happened three months back. My father was not feeling well, so I took him to the hospital.
The hospital was full of patients. First, I took the token, and then both of us sat on the seats in the waiting area. My father closed his eyes to relax and I took out my mobile to check the messages. In the meanwhile, an older man entered the waiting room; there was no place for him to sit, so I quickly got up and offered him my own seat.
After five minutes, it was our turn so I held my father firmly and took him to the doctor’s room. After a thorough medical check-up, the doctor said that there was nothing to worry about. He handed me the prescription and suddenly his mobile rang. That reminded me of my mobile. My hands involuntarily searched my pockets but couldn’t find it. My face turned pale as it was the new mobile that I bought just a day before that incident. I hurriedly ran to the place where I was sitting with my father in the waiting room but it was not there. I searched my mobile everywhere but all in vain. My father asked me, “Dear Son, why are you in panic?” First I decided to hide the truth and then I replied and said, “Dad, I have lost my mobile somewhere.”
With a heavy heart, we moved towards the exit door, and there I saw the same older man again coming towards us. I noticed that he was holding a mobile in his hand that he gave me and said, “Young man, you should take care of your belongings otherwise you have to face losses in your life.” I thanked him with tears of happiness in my eyes. My father too became very happy. From that incident, I learned a lesson that, I should be very cautious about my things.

B. Write the summary of the story ‘His First Flight.’

Answer:
Summary:
The whole story revolved around the young seagull who was left behind on the ledge all alone by his parents, brothers, and sister. They all were flying and diving but he was afraid of flying and couldn’t get the courage to make his first flight. He was quite hungry, he searched for some food but didn’t find anything to eat. At last, he saw his mother with a piece of fish in her beak. He became excited as if she would be giving him that piece to satisfy his hunger. But her mother sat on the ledge opposite to him, then she flew and came nearer to him. She halted, with her limbs hanging, and wings motionless. The young seagull let out a cry of joy as he thought he would be getting the food. The piece of fish was now within the reach of the seagull. He waited for a moment and then maddened by hunger, he dived at the fish. As soon as he realized that he was in the air, not falling down rather he was soaring gradually downwards and outwards. He was not afraid at that moment, just felt a bit dizzy. He then flapped his wings again and soared upwards. With that feeling, he uttered a joyous scream to cherish his first flight. On witnessing the effort and courageous act of the young seagull, his parents and siblings too became happy at the first flight of the seagull. All the family members, screamed and praised him and offered him scraps of dogfish too as an act of celebration and joy.
