Conditional Sentences شرطیہ جملے
Conditional sentences contain a conditional clause (often referred to as if-clause) and the consequence.
First Conditional Sentences
The first conditional sentences are used to speculate about possible situations that can really happen at present or in future.
Example: If they are busy people, they will miss the news.
Structure: If + present tense + future tense
Instructions: Conditional sentences have two parts one is the condition and other is the consequence. In first conditional the conditional statement is in Simple Present and the consequence statement is in Simple Future. Conditional statement has first form of verb and consequence part has shall/will before the first form of verb.
ہدایات: ان شرطیہ جملوں کے دو حصے ہوتے ہیں۔ شرطیہ حصے یا اگر والے حصے کا ترجمہ Present simple میں کرتے ہیں اور دوسرے حصے یا تو والے حصے کا ترجمہ Future simple میں کرتے ہیں۔ یعنی اگر والے حصے کا ترجمہ پہلی فارم سے کریں اور "تو" والے حصے کا ترجمہ کرنے کے لیے will/shall کے بعد پہلی فارم استعمال کریں۔ فقرے میں دودفعہ will/shall نہیں آسکتا۔
Examples:
1. If you work hard, you will pass.
اگر تم محنت کروگے تو پاس ہوجاو گے۔
2. If he is honest, he shall speak the truth.
اگر وہ دیانت دار ہے تو ضرور سچ بولے گا۔
3. If he does not run fast, he will not catch the train.
اگر وہ تیز نہیں دوڑے گا تو گاڑی نہیں پکڑپائے گا۔
4. If we invite them, they shall come.
اگر ہم انھیں دعوت دیں گے تو وہ ضرور آئیں گے۔
5. It you see him, will you recognize him?
اگر تم اسے دیکھو تو کیا اسے پہچان لوگے؟
Second Conditional Sentences
In the second conditional sentences we speculate about situations that will probably never happen at present or in future.
Example: What would you do, if there were no more books?
Structure: Simple Past + would/could/might + infinitive
Instructions: Conditional sentences have two parts one is the condition and other is the consequence. In second conditional the conditional statement is in Past and the consequence statement is in Future(unrealistic or unlikely outcome). Conditional statement has second form of verb and in consequence part we use auxiliary verb with infinitive.
ہدایات: اس شرطیہ جملوں میں اردو میں پہلا حصہ ماضی میں ہوتا ہے اور دوسرا مستقبل میں۔ ترجمہ کرتے ہوئے پہلے حصے کے لیے دوسری فارم استعمال کرتے ہیں اور دوسرے حصے میں "گا، گے، گی" کا ترجمہ کرنے کے لیے will/shall کو would کر دیتے ہیں۔
Examples:
1. If he ate unripe fruit, he would fall ill.
اگر اس نے کچے پھل کھائے تو بیمار پڑ جائے گا۔
2. If he came to me, I would help him.
اگر وہ میرے پاس آیا تو میں اس کی مدد کروں گا۔
3. If you did not make a noise, he teacher would not punish you.
اگر تم نے شور نہ کیا تو استاد صاحب تمہیں سزا نہیں دیں گے۔
4. If I went to bazar, I would bring book for you.
اگر میں بازار گیا تو تمہارے لیے کتاب لاوں گا۔
5. If they gave you information, would you share it with me?
اگر انہوں نے تمہیں معلومات دیں تو کیا تم مجھے بتاو گے؟
Third Conditional Sentences
The third conditional sentences refer to the past. We speculate about situations that happened or did not happen in the past.
Examples: If he had not returned, I would have gladly laid down my life for him.
Structure: Past Perfect + would/could/might + have + past participle
Instructions: Conditional sentences have two parts one is the condition and other is the consequence. In third conditional the conditional statement is in Past Perfect and the consequence statement has auxiliary verb + have + third form of verb.
ہدایات: شردطیہ جملوں کے شروع میں "اگر حرف شرط اور جملہ کے دوسرے حصہ سے پہلے لفظ "تو" حرف جزا کے طور پر استعمال ہوتا ہے۔ جملہ کے "اگر" والے حصہ کو If سے شروع کرکے فاعل کے بعد فعل کی تیسری فارم لگاتے ہیں اور "تو" حرف جزا والے حصہ میں would have کے بعد تیسری فارم لگاتے ہیں۔
1. If you had worked hard, you would have succeeded.
اگر تم محنت کرتے تو پاس ہو جاتے۔
2. If he had been honest, he would have spoken the truth.
اگر وہ دیانتدار ہوتا تو ضرور سچ بولتا۔
3. If he had been a thief, the police would have arrested him.
اگر وہ چور ہوتا تو پولیس اسے گرفتار کرلیتی۔
4. If you had been healthy, you would have gone to Murree.
اگر تم تندرست ہوتے تو ضرور مری جاتے۔
5. If it had not rained, a famine would have broken out.
اگر بارش نہ ہوتی تو قحط پڑ جاتا۔
