Tense can be defined as that form of a Verb which shows the time and the state of an action or event.
In this tense the Verb shows that the action is mentioned simply, without anything being said about the completeness or incompleteness of the action.
اردو میں پہچان: اردو میں فقرے کے آخر میں " تھا، تھے، تھی، گیا،گئے، گئی" وغیرہ آتا ہے۔
مثبت فقرات: وہ سکول گیا۔ اس نے پانی پیا۔ میں نے خط لکھا۔
منفی فقرات:وہ سکول نہیں گیا۔ اس نے پانی نہیں پیا۔ میں نے خط نہیں لکھا۔
سوالیہ فقرات: کیاوہ سکول گیا؟کیا اس نے پانی پیا،؟کیا میں نے خط لکھا؟
منفی سوالیہ فقرات: کیاوہ سکولنہیں گیا؟کیا اس نے پانینہیں پیا،؟کیا میں نے خط نہیں لکھا؟
عملی طور پر فقرات بنانے کا طریقہ: فقرات کی ترتیب اور بناوٹ نیچے درج ہے۔
Structure
مثبت یا سادہ فقرات/Positive or Simple Sentences
Subject (فاعل) + Second form of verb + Object.
He/She/It/I/We/You/They/ جمع اور واحد اسم played soccer.
Negative Sentences/منفی فقرات
Subject(فاعل) + did not + First form of verb + Object.
He/She/It/I/We/You/They/ جمع اور واحد اسم did not play soccer.
Interrogative Sentences/سوالیہ فقرات
Did + Subject(فاعل) + First form of verb + Object?
Did He/She/It/I/We/You/They/جمع اور واحد اسم play soccer?
Interrogative + Negative Sentences/سوالیہ + منفی فقرات
Did + Subject (فاعل) + not + First form of verb + Object?
Did He/She/It/I/We/You/They/جمع اور واحد اسم not play soccer?
For sentences starting with "Why" or "Where"
“Where”یا “Why” والے فقرات بنانے کا طریقہ
Where/Why + did + Subject (فاعل) + First form of verb + Object?
Where/Why did He/She/It/I/We/You/They/جمع اور واحد اسم play soccer?
For sentences starting with "Who" second form of verb is used.
“Who” والے فقرات میں “Did” استعمال نہیں کیا جاتا مگر Verb کی دوسری فارم استعمال ہوتی ہے۔

Use ( استعمال)
1۔ ایسے کام یا عمل کیلئے جو ماضی میں کیا گیا ہو۔
For work that is done in the past.
i. I met him a week ago.
ii. Murtaza watered the plants
2۔ ماضی میں عادتا کسی کام کیلئے۔
Work that is habitual in the past.
i. He went from here four days ago.
ii. I worked all day yesterday.
3۔ ماضی کے حقائق بیان کرنے کیلئے جن کا اب وجود نہ ہو۔
For stating truth of the past, that are not present now.
i. She was shy in her childhood.
ii. He didn’t like carrots in the past.
4۔ ماضی کے واقعات یا کہانی بیان کرنے کیلئے۔
For stating events of past and for telling a story.
i. One day I was going to Murree. I saw a monkey.
ii. Once upon a time, there was a king.
Examples.
1. I saw a lion.
میں نے شیر دیکھا۔
2. Ahmad climbed up a mango tree.
احمد آم کے درخت پر چڑھا۔
3. We sold our house.
ہم نے اپنا گھر فروخت کیا۔
4. I did not call you.
میں نے آپکو نہیں بلایا۔
5. The girls did not clap.
لڑکیوں نے تالیاں نہیں بجائیں۔
6. The servant did not sweep in rooms.
نوکر نے کمرے صاف نہ کئے۔
7. Did you reach home late in the evening?
کیا تم شام کو گھر دیر سے پہنچے؟
8. Did the hunter aim at the lion?
کیا شکاری نے شیر کو شکار کیا تھا؟
9. Did you catch the thief?
کیا تم نے چور کو پکڑ لیا تھا؟
10. Did you not jump on the roof?
کیا تم چھت پر نہیں اچھلے تھے؟
11. Did the traveler not hold his breath?
کیا مسافر نے اپنا سانس روک نہیں لیا تھا؟
12. Did we not leave the class room?
کیا ہم کمرہ جماعت سے باہر نہیں نکلے تھے؟
