Use of “It”/ کا استعمال It"

It is used for following things.

1. “It” is used in the start of the sentences to state time (morning, noon, evening), day, night, date, weather conditions (rain, tornado, storm) and natural scenes as Introductory subject. “It” is meaningless and singular verb is used with it.

"It" کا استعمال مندرجہ ذیل جگہوں پر ہوتاہے۔

1۔ "It" کو فقرے کے شروع میں وقت صبح، دوپہر،شام، دن، رات، تاریخ، موسم، فضائی حالات، بارش، طوفان، آندھی اور قدرتی منظر بیان کرنے کےلیے بطور Introductory Subject  استعمال کیا جاتا ہے۔ فقرے کے شروع میں "It" بے معنی ہوتا ہے اور اسکے ساتھ واحد فعل استعمال کرتے ہیں۔

Examples:

It is raining.

۔بارش ہو رہی ہے۔

It is evening now.

اب شام ہو رہی ہے۔

It was Christmas yesterday.

کل کرسمس تھی۔

It was clear today.

  آج مطلع صاف ہے۔

2. “It” can be used as a pronoun. Usually for non-living or small living things.

2۔ "It" کو بطور Pronoun بھی استعمال کیا حاتا ہے۔ عموبا بے جان چیزوں یا چھوٹے جانداروں کے لیے استعمال کیا جاتا ہے جیسے۔

It is a doll.

یہ ایک گڑیا ہے۔

It is an insect.

یہ ایک کپڑا ہے۔

Negative Sentences/منفی فقرات

For negative sentences helping verbs (is, am, are, was, were, has, have, had) are succeeded by not.

منفی فقرات بنانے کیلئے Helping verbs is, am, are, was, were, has, have, had,  کے بعد not  لگاتے ہیں۔

Examples:

It is not very hot today.

آج بہت گرمی نہیں ہے۔

It is not getting dark.

اندھیرا نہیں چھارہا ہے۔

Interrogative Sentences/ سوالیہ فقرات

For interrogative sentences Helping verb is used before “It” in the sentence and question marks is put at the end.

فقرے کو سوالیہ بنانے کیلئے  Helping verb کو  “It” سے پہلے لگایا جاتا ہے اور آخر میں سوالیہ نشان لگاتے ہیں۔

Examples

It is two miles to the beach.

ساحل سے دو میل ہے۔

It is a long time since they left.

کافی عرصہ پہلے وہ روانہ ہوئے۔

It is raining since morning.

آج صبح سے بارش ہورہی ہے۔

It is not hot today.

آج گرمی نہیں ہے۔

It is not the habit of good boys to abuse others.

دوسروں کو گالیاں دینا اچھے لڑکوں گا شیوہ نہیں ہے۔

It was not Jameel on the phone.

فون پر جمیل نہ تھا۔

Is it our moral duty to respect our parents?

کیا والدین کی عزت کرنا ہمارا اخلاقی فرض ہے؟

Is it very dark in the room?

کیا کمرے میں بہت اندھیرا ہے؟

Was it you who saved the child?

کیا یہ تم تھے جس نے بچے کو بچایا؟

Is it not Friday today?

کیا آج جمعہ نہیں ہے؟
